Wolfsburg, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Two goals apiece from Bas Dost and Kevin De Bruyne powered Wolfsburg to a stunning 4-1 win over leaders Bayern Munich at the Volkswagen Arena on Friday. After giving up just four goals in the first 17 games of the Bundesliga season, Bayern was shredded for four in 90 minutes on Friday as Dost opened the scoring in the fourth minute before adding a second goal just before halftime. De Bruyne stretched the advantage to 3-0 in the 53rd, while Juan Bernat managed to pull a goal back two minutes to later to reduce the deficit. The result was then secure in the 73rd when De Bruyne added his second goal in the span of 20 minutes, handing Bayern its first defeat of the season. Wolfsburg moves to within eight points of Bayern with the win, and the club jumps nine points ahead of third-place Bayer Leverkusen, which faces struggling Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. The hosts jumped out to a fast start and were in front inside of four minutes with De Bruyne leading the break and playing a through ball into the path of Dost, who tracked it down and drove a low shot inside the right post. Wolfsburg goalkeeper Diego Benaglio was tested by Bastian Schweinsteiger, Robert Lewandowski and David Alaba, but he came up big and kept his side in front before Dost made it 2-0 at the break with a wonderful volley from the top of the penalty area. The assault continued in the second half as Maximilian Arnold played well- weighted ball over the top that De Bruyne controlled before slotting his shot past goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. Bernat scored his first goal of the season in the 55th after his shot took a wicked deflection off Wolfsburg defender Naldo, but that would be the lone blemish for the home side, which added a fourth goal through De Bruyne with a fine left-footed finish. Point was far from a lock to make the team and had been the 13th forward before Fabbri got hurt early in the first period Friday night against Denmark. Coach Benoit Groulx likes having a shooter with McDavid and Lazar, so Point will get that chance.Back to Fucale: Zach Fucale starts in goal after completing an easy 14-save shutout of Denmark. Fucale and Eric Comrie have been rotated in goal this tournament, so its not a certainty that the semifinal starter will also be in net if Canada gets to the gold-medal game. Fucale might want to keep from allowing a bad goal, just in case, because Comries ready to step back in.Forget aboout Boxing Day: Canada hammered Slovakia 8-0 and put up 34 shots to 12 on the tournaments opening day.dddddddddddd Players are quick to say they dont think itll be a blowout again. But it still might be hard not to think back to that game and get complacent.Glove of Godla: Canada chased Slovak goaltender Denis Godla with five goals on 23 shots in the Boxing Day blowout, but he has allowed just six on 136 since. Forward Martin Reway said Godla has to be perfect against Canada in the semifinals, and the goaltender knows that. Sounds about right.Slovakias strategy: Learning from last time and gaining more confidence following wins over Finland and the Czech Republic, Slovakia will try to avoid falling behind early. A quick Canadian goal would get the Air Canada Centre crowd going, so the Slovaks just want to survive the first few shifts to give themselves a chance.---Follow @SWhyno on Twitter ' ' '
